# Care Journal Your care can feel like it’s happening to you. Care Journal helps you understand it, track it, and lead it. Care Journal is a free app for keeping track of your own care. It records an appointment and gives it back in plain language, holds the days in between, gathers the records your clinics already have, and keeps all of it in one place that belongs to you. Category: about No. Care Journal keeps a record and explains what's in it. It doesn't diagnose, treat, or make clinical recommendations, and it isn't a substitute for your care team. ## What if my clinician doesn't want to be recorded? Category: appointments Then don't record. You can still type or dictate a few notes straight after, while it's fresh, and Care Journal will do the same work on those. A lot of people find that the two-minute voice note in the car park is the single most useful thing they keep. ## Will it tell me what my results mean? Category: appointments It'll explain what a lab or pathology report says in plain language, and show you how it compares to your last one. What it won't do is tell you what that means for you, whether it's good news, or what to do about it. That's a conversation with your clinician, and Care Journal's job is to make sure you walk into it knowing what's in the document. ## What if it gets something wrong? Category: asking-questions You can correct it, and you can delete any entry or memory you don't want kept. Every answer shows you the entry it came from, so you can check it rather than take it on trust. If a summary of a visit reads wrong to you, edit it: your record should say what actually happened. ## Can a caregiver log things on my behalf? Category: caregivers Yes. On a bad week that's often the difference between a record that keeps going and one that stops. The entry records who added it, so it's always clear whose account of the day you're reading. ## I'm helping my parent. Can I use it for them? Category: caregivers Yes, and this is one of the most common ways people use it. The account belongs to the person receiving care, and you're invited into it. That keeps the record theirs, which matters if the arrangement changes or someone else takes over. ## How do I get help? Category: contact Email hello@carejournal.ai and a person will answer. If something in the app is wrong, tell us what you were doing when it happened and we'll look at it. ## How long does it take to set up? Category: getting-started About a minute. You can open the app and start using it straight away without making an account, and add one later if you want your record to survive changing phones. Connecting your clinics and your watch takes longer, but neither is required to get value on day one. ## Which languages does it work in? Category: getting-started You can speak or type in seven languages, and we keep the words you actually used rather than translating them away. If you think in one language and your appointments happen in another, that gap is exactly where things get lost, so the record holds both. ## How long does logging a symptom take? Category: living-with-treatment A few seconds. You say it out loud the way you'd say it to a friend, and that's the entry. Eight seconds on a Tuesday, another eight on Thursday, and by your next appointment there's a picture that no one could have reconstructed from memory. ## I already keep notes somewhere. Why change? Category: living-with-treatment Most people do, in a notepad by the bed or a notes app or their own head. Care Journal asks less of you than the notebook does, and unlike the notebook it can answer a question later. The notes stay useful; they just stop being scattered. ## What if I miss a few days? Category: living-with-treatment Nothing breaks. There are no streaks to lose and nothing nags you. Care Journal is meant to be useful on the days you open it, and quiet on the days you don't. ## Can I delete everything? Category: privacy Yes. You can delete an individual entry, a recording, or your whole account. Deleting the account removes your record from our systems. If you'd previously agreed to research use, withdrawing stops any further use from that point. ## Do I have to give you my name? Category: privacy Not to start. You can use Care Journal anonymously the first time and decide later whether to create an account. An account is what lets your record survive a lost or replaced phone, which is the main reason to add one. ## What does research use actually mean? Category: privacy It means a named organisation studying a named question can see a version of your record with the identifying details stripped out. You're told who they are and what they're looking at before you agree. It isn't a blanket permission, it isn't permanent, and it isn't the default. ## Can I get my information out again? Category: your-records Yes, at any time, in a form you can read and hand to someone else. A record you can't take out isn't really yours. ## What happens if I change hospitals? Category: your-records Nothing. Your record is yours and it comes with you. That's the difference between a record you hold and a portal you're given access to: the portal ends when the relationship does. ## What if I've seen five different clinics? Category: your-records That's the normal case, and it's the reason this exists. Every clinic holds a piece of your history and none of them holds all of it. You're the only person who's been at every appointment, so you're the only one who can put the whole thing in one place. Care Journal gathers what each one has and keeps it together.
